Get started with DEVUP Code
Set up DEVUP Code in VS Code, Cursor or Antigravity: install it from the Extensions view, sign in through your browser, and ask about your code in the DEVUP AI panel.
Before you start
You need a DEVUP account and VS Code, Cursor or Antigravity on desktop. Installing costs nothing, and each request you send is paid from your DEVUP balance.
The names you will see
On this site the extension is called DEVUP Code. Inside the editor it goes by DEVUP AI: you search for DEVUP AI in the Extensions view, install the listing named DEVUP AI — AI code assistant, and open the panel titled DEVUP AI.
Install in VS Code
VS Code gets the extension from the Visual Studio Marketplace.
- Open VS Code.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+X to open the Extensions view.
- Search DEVUP AI.
- Click Install on DEVUP AI — AI code assistant.
DEVUP Code needs VS Code 1.96 or later.
Install in Cursor
Cursor gets the extension from Open VSX.
- Open Cursor.
- Open the Extensions view.
- Search DEVUP AI.
- Click Install on DEVUP AI — AI code assistant.
This works on Cursor's free plan.
Install in Antigravity
Antigravity gets the extension from Open VSX.
- Open the Antigravity editor.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+X to open the Extensions view.
- Search DEVUP AI.
- Click Install on DEVUP AI — AI code assistant.
Sign in
- In the activity bar, open the DEVUP AI panel.
- Click Sign in with DEVUP. A devupai.com page opens in your browser: click Allow access there.
- Switch back to the editor. You are signed in, without pasting any key.
Working in a remote or web window, or prefer an API key? Follow Sign in and account.
Ask your first question
- Select a few lines in the editor and press Ctrl+Alt+D to bring them into the chat.
- Type your question in the message box. Ask mode is there for questions about your code.
- Press Enter to send. The answer appears while the model writes it.

Where to find DEVUP AI
- Panel: DEVUP AI has its own panel in the activity bar, titled DEVUP AI. It is separate from your editor's built-in AI chat and doesn't replace it.
- Title bar: the DEVUP AI button in the editor's title bar also opens the chat. If you don't use it, hide it in Settings.
- Shortcut: Ctrl+Alt+D brings the code you selected into the chat; with no selection, it opens the message box.
FAQ
Why do I search for DEVUP AI and not DEVUP Code?
DEVUP Code is the name this site uses. In the editor, the Extensions view search, the listing (DEVUP AI — AI code assistant) and the panel all use the name DEVUP AI.
Which editors can I use?
VS Code, Cursor and Antigravity, on desktop.
Is the extension free?
Installing it is free. Requests you send are paid for from your DEVUP balance.
Does DEVUP AI replace my editor's built-in AI chat?
No. DEVUP AI has a separate panel; the editor's built-in AI chat stays where it is.
