DEVUP Code
Troubleshooting
Find the situation that matches yours and follow the steps. Error messages in DEVUP AI describe what happened and the next step, with a request ID you can copy for support.
Sign-in doesn't finish
- Look at the browser tab that opened. Sign-in completes only after you click Allow access on devupai.com.
- Return to the editor and check the DEVUP AI panel for a message. It tells you what to do next.
- Start again with Sign in with DEVUP.
- Using a remote or web window? Those sign in with a DEVUP API key instead.
Both ways to sign in are described in Sign in and account.
A shortcut does nothing
Ctrl+Alt+D brings your selection into the chat, or places you in the message box when nothing is selected. If it does nothing, check which keys it has and assign new ones:
- Run Preferences: Open Keyboard Shortcuts from the Command Palette.
- Search for DEVUP AI: Ask DEVUP AI and look at the keys assigned to it.
- Double-click the command, press a new key combination, and confirm with Enter.
- Repeat for DEVUP AI: Focus Message Box, which has the same default keys.
Every command and its default keys are listed in Commands and shortcuts.
Restricted Mode
Restricted Mode limits what DEVUP AI does: chatting and reading your attachments continue, while writing to files and reading project rules stop until the mode ends.
Trusting the workspace in your editor ends Restricted Mode.
Your balance is too low
If a request needs more than your balance, DEVUP AI says so and shows two buttons.
- Click Top up to open your billing page and add to your balance.
- Once the payment is done, click Refresh balance.
The active API key limit
Every editor you sign in uses one key of its own, and that key counts toward your account's active API key limit.
To make room, revoke keys you no longer use on your API keys page, where editor keys are marked Editor sign-in.
Contact support
- Copy the request ID from the error message.
- Copy the diagnostic info DEVUP AI offers for support. It contains no keys and no chats.
- Send both to support@devupai.com, or open devupai.com/support.
